Unlikely Motivation, 8/19/13

Several months ago I saw the graphic below on Instagram and it spoke to me.

I wanted to write a post about it, but none of my words did it justice. So instead of insulting the artist with my opinions, I’ll just share the questions that the graphic raised up in me regarding true leadership:

  • Do your coworkers and employees want to emulate your work habits?
  • Can employees clearly hear your encouraging voice in the trenches while chaos surrounds them?
  • Are your willing to put your money where your mouth is and fund the creativity you encourage?
  • Can you get your hands dirty and teach, to ensure that no one goes without development?

Please feel free to create your own caption and share them with me in the comments!

  1. Some thoughts my friend!

Are you with me or without me?
    Leading is a team sport.
You can pull a rope or push it: decide…
Its the trip, not the destination…

  2. I agree with Sheila about TEAM work…However, the leader should make sure that the tasks get done on hand as well. To make a great leader you need to know what is going on then not what’s going on or not going as well.

    • Thank you for visiting ruHRelevant! You are correct. Anyone can be “bossy” and bark orders. They may get results, but they’ll be short-lived. Leaders engage, get results and buy-in from the people that they lead, which will result in long-term success.
